Baseball Recap: Foss Takes a Loss

Foss had lost 18 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-13 to make it 19. They lost 21-2 to the Fife Trojans. The Falcons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Fife, they moved to 12-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Fife's part, Miles Ducharme and Evan Reece made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Ducharme pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Reece pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Ducharme posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. At the plate, Ducharme went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Reece went 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Ducharme is becoming a predictor of Fife's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-9 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Carter Christiansen was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Austin Zellmer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

While Foss had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
