Baseball Recap: Bucktail Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bucktail ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Muncy Indians 10-9. This was a revenge game for the Bucks: when they faced off against the Indians back in April, they had to take a 17-2 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Angelo Tarantella, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Thomas Tarantella was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bucktail kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.

The victory snapped Bucktail's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-12 record. As for Muncy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Bucktail will head out to square off against Sugar Valley Rural at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Muncy, they will head out on the road to take on Montgomery at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
