Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Academy Takes a Loss

Cornerstone Charter Academy played a tough contest on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 115-78 loss at the hands of the Central Cobras. The Ducks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-32.

Devan Domadia and Derick Augustin certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Domadia went 9 of 22 on his way to 31 points, while Augustin went 10 for 21 en route to 25 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Domadia a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Wood, who posted eight points along with nine assists and five boards.

Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joseph Gayle, who went 13 of 22 en route to 26 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Gayle's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Christopher Maxon was another key player, dropping a triple-double on 14 points, ten boards, and 15 assists.

Cornerstone Charter Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Central, they pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Cornerstone Charter Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 71-68 victory against Geneva on the 28th. Central has also already played their next game, a 74-60 win against Jensen Beach on the 28th.
