Baseball Recap: Navarre Comes Up Short

If Navarre was feeling good fresh off their 18-1 takedown of Pensacola last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Raiders fell just short of the Escambia Gators by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled against the Gators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Colton Deman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Navarre saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Hawley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Hawley has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another was Bo Shipley, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Navarre's loss dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Escambia, they pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Navarre will head out to challenge Crestview at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Escambia, they will challenge Theodore at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
