Freedom's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Seymour hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Thunder's pitcher stepped up to hand Bonduel a 6-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Thunder have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Kendra Rettler's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adde Smith, who fired off two home runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Aryah Krahn, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, Freedom didn't have quite enough to beat Bay Port on Monday and fell 4-2. That's two games in a row now that the Irish have lost by exactly two runs.
Breanna Dallmann was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Freedom has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-12 record this season. As for Seymour, their win bumped their record up to 19-3.
Freedom's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Seymour has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Freedom, though, as they've been averaging only 3.5 strikeouts. Will Seymour keep running through batters, or will the Irish buck the trend?
