Recap: Westlake Wolverines vs. Thomas Stone Cougars
The Westlake Wolverines were the 38-27 winner over the Thomas Stone Cougars when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Westlake fell to Thomas Stone 41-37.
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Raynna Ratchford, who scored 8 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 steals. Another player making a difference was Caila Alexander, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Even though they lost, Westlake were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thomas Stone only pulled down six.
Thomas Stone found their leader in underclassman Michaiah Smith, who scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Makaiya Tucker, who scored 15 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds.
Westlake's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Thomas Stone, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing St. Charles the next time they take the court. Thomas Stone will head out to face St. Charles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Westlake will host them at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th.
