Basketball Recap: Bishop Machebeuf Takes a Loss

On Friday, the Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes took a blow against the Meeker Cowboys, falling 53-22. The Buffaloes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Bishop Machebeuf lost, don't look at Eve Brustkern. Despite the final result, she posted six points and three steals. Brustkern has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Meeker got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Rylee Sullivan out in front who went 10 of 19 on her way to 25 points and eight rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Sullivan has scored at least a third of Meeker's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Castillo, who went 8 of 17 on her way to 16 points and five rebounds.

Bishop Machebeuf's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Meeker, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Bishop Machebeuf didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-38 loss against Windsor Charter Academy on the 21st. As for Meeker, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 53-36 victory against Banning Lewis Academy on the 21st.
