Baseball Recap: Conneaut Drops Highest Score of Season Against Geneva

Conneaut extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 22 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 0-16 in the process. They fell 13-8 to the Geneva Eagles. On the bright side, the eight- run effort marked the Spartans' highest-scoring contest to date.

Gabe Ghiz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Thaddeus Huya also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

As for Geneva, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

On Geneva's side, Andrew Oros was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts Oros has posted since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Ryland Besco was incredible, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Geneva: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Logan Rustic, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

While Conneaut had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
