Basketball Game Preview: Signal Mountain Eagles vs. Coahulla Creek Colts

The Signal Mountain Eagles will head out to face off against the Coahulla Creek Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Signal Mountain is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Boyd-Buchanan on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Signal Mountain was dealt an 80-42 defeat at the hands of Boyd-Buchanan. The Eagles have struggled against the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Coahulla Creek suffered their closest loss since December 21, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Rockmart by a score of 62-59. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Colts came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 452nd).

Coahulla Creek has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-5 record this season. As for Signal Mountain, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Signal Mountain came up short against Coahulla Creek in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 67-59. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Coahulla Creek's Gage Voyles, who went 13 of 20 on his way to 28 points in addition to five assists and four steals.
