Basketball Recap: Boyd Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Paradise, Boyd was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They managed a 58-54 victory over the Callisburg Wildcats. That's more bragging rights for the Yellowjackets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Myles Richardson was his usual excellent self, putting up 19 points. Another player making a difference was Lex Horton, who posted 12 points.

When it comes to explaining why Callisburg lost, don't look at Logan Grisham. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Those 19 points gave Grisham a new career-high. Caden Whittington was another key player, earning nine points and three steals.

Boyd's win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-19. As for Callisburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-5 record this season.

Boyd and Callisburg could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Boyd will challenge Ponder at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 562 places (1023 vs. 461). Boyd is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. Similarly, Callisburg (ranked 603rd) will meet Whitesboro (ranked 296th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
