Baseball Game Preview: Queen Creek Bulldogs vs. Brophy College Prep Broncos

The Queen Creek Bulldogs will square off against the Brophy College Prep Broncos on Thursday. The last three games Queen Creek has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Queen Creek is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Sunnyside 4-3.

Queen Creek got a great performance from Mason Lizzaraga as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Lizzaraga also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Bulldogs are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jet Berry was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Brophy College Prep faced Red Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Broncos fell just short of the Mountain Lions by a score of 6-5. The Broncos' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Queen Creek pushed their record up to 18-12 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Brophy College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 15-12.

Queen Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Brophy College Prep in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
