Baseball Game Preview: Charlotte Christian Knights vs. Providence Day Chargers

For the first time this season, Charlotte Christian will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Providence Day Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Charlotte Christian has three straight wins, Providence Day has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Charlotte Christian beats Providence Day with six runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Charlotte Christian narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lexington 6-4.

Will Parrish looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

On the hitting side, Derek Vazquez was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Witt McCammon was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Providence Day lost 12-1 to Taravella on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Chargers have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Providence Day saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Ward, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Charlotte Christian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Providence Day, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Charlotte Christian suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Providence Day in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Charlotte Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
