Basketball Recap: Fauquier Takes a Loss

Fauquier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 40-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the James Wood Colonels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Colonels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-15 back in December of 2024.

James Wood had a senior duo take command as Maddie Shirley posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals and Josie Russell had five points along with 12 boards and six blocks. Shirley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season. Ashlyn Evans was another key player, putting up eight points along with six rebounds and five blocks.

Fauquier's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for James Wood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9.

Fauquier wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 87-31 loss against James Monroe on the 21st. James Wood has also already played their next matchup (against Handley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
