Baseball Recap: Medford Beats Somerville for Their Third Straight Victory

Medford hadn't beaten Somerville on the road since May 21, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Mustangs came out on top against the Highlanders by a score of 6-1. The win was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won three matches in a row.

Travers Moodie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He has become a key player for Medford: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4-1 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on David Crohan, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Micheal Piccolo was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Medford's victory bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Somerville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.
