The Hobgood Charter Raiders will face off against the North East Carolina Prep Husky at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hobgood Charter will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Mattamuskeet on Thursday. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Lakers. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Lakers: they've now won four in a row.
Haleigh Eason was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Eason was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kinsey Peel was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Emma Rae Cannon was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Meanwhile, North East Carolina Prep came tearing into Thursday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 15-5 victory.
The team relied heavily on Katelyn Knox, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Natalie Bunting, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
North East Carolina Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .576 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Hobgood Charter's record is now 8-4. As for North East Carolina Prep, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hobgood Charter has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like North East Carolina Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hobgood Charter was able to grind out a solid victory over North East Carolina Prep when the teams last played back in March, winning 7-2. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Husky have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
