Baseball Recap: Boone Beats South Lake for Their Fifth Straight Win

Boone waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the South Lake Eagles.

Boone got a great performance from Collin Lock as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the fewest hits Lock has allowed since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Micah Arroyo, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Rhys Woodrow was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Boone's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for South Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Boone has already played their next contest, a 6-1 defeat against East River on the 26th. As for South Lake, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when South Lake Eagles duke it out with Lake Minneola Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Minneola's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so South Lake's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
