Football Recap: Alva Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Alva and Hennessey, and Hennessey kept the tradition alive. The Goldbugs came up short against the Eagles on Friday, falling 42-21. The Goldbugs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-0.

Levi Ferrell had an outrageously good game for Hennessey as he rushed for 157 yards and four scores while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also threw for 47 yards and one touchdown. Those 157 rushing yards gave Ferrell a new career-high. Beau Vinson made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Alva's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Hennessey, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-2.

Coming up, Alva will take on Stroud at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense has only allowed 13.2 points per game this season, so the Goldbugs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Hennessey, they will square off against Meeker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
