Softball Recap: Spring Woods Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cypress Lakes, Spring Woods was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Madison Marlins a 19-0 shutout. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Tigers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Addison Bruton was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Cisneros, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Spring Woods always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .900. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Spring Woods pushed their record up to 5-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11.25 hits in those games compared to only 2.5 in the others. As for Madison, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Spring Woods will be playing at home against Sterling at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Madison, they will head out on the road to take on Waltrip at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
