Winter Park is 9-1 against Cypress Creek since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Winter Park will be taking part in a tournament against Cypress Creek at 7:00 p.m. The timing isn't great for Winter Park: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Cypress Creek has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
Winter Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Bishop Moore by a score of 9-5 on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.
Lindsey Allen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Rylie Scanlon was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Carrie Dulgar was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Winter Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Cypress Creek was able to grind out a solid win over Ocoee on Thursday, taking the game 6-3.
Like Winter Park, Cypress Creek also got a great game from a two-way player: Amanda Cintron. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Cintron has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Britney Freitez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Izabella Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Winter Park's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Cypress Creek, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.
Winter Park beat Cypress Creek 4-1 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Does Winter Park have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cypress Creek turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
