Baseball Recap: Perryton Finds Home Field Redemption Against Dumas

There's no place like home for Perryton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on the Dumas Demons with a sharp 10-3 win on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rangers needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Isaac Chavira was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Perryton's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 4-11 when he doesn't). Chavira was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryant Canssino, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Carranza, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Perryton's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Dumas, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Perryton is set to challenge their familiar foe Canyon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Dumas will take on rival Randall at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
