Basketball Recap: Del Sol Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Morgan White and Ricana Taylor

Del Sol and Somerset Academy Losee squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Del Sol had to settle for second. They fell 54-45 to the Somerset Academy Losee Lions. The loss continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost six in a row.

Del Sol's loss came despite strong showings from Ricana Taylor and Morgan White. Taylor dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds, while White went 6 for 8 on her way to 15 points and seven boards. White continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Angelina Sandoval was another key player, putting up no points in addition to five rebounds, five blocks, and three steals.

Jayla Lewis continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Somerset Academy Losee, almost dropping a triple-double on 22 points, nine assists, and ten steals. The matchup was Lewis' third in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amijah Nelson, who posted eight points and five steals.

Del Sol's defeat dropped their record down to 22-8. As for Somerset Academy Losee, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 19-5.

Del Sol does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Somerset Academy Losee, they will head out on the road to challenge Western at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Somerset Academy Losee's defense has only allowed 27.5 points per game this season, so Western's offense will have their work cut out for them.
