Basketball Recap: New Life Academy Extends Winning Streak to Five

New Life Academy extended their winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Dontrel Lee. The New Life Academy Bobcats walked away with a 65-55 victory over the Rock Church Lions on Thursday thanks in part to Lee, who posted 21 points. The matchup was his sixth in a row with at least ten points.

Daelin Swimme was another key player, putting up ten points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

Rock Church's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miles Dawkins, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten assists. Dawkins is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 21 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Rylan Holloman, who had 18 points along with six boards and three steals.

New Life Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Rock Church, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 9-2 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Life Academy will venture away from home to challenge Suffolk Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. New Life Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Suffolk Christian Academy likes a good challenge. As for Rock Church, they will face off against Bethel Assembly Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rock Church is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.6 points per game this season.
