Soccer Game Preview: Ponaganset vs. Westerly + How To Watch

The Ponaganset Chieftains will head out to face off against the Westerly Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ponaganset has given up an average of 2.6 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Ponaganset is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Portsmouth, who was ranked 25th at the time (Ponaganset was ranked 23rd). The Chieftains fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 5-4 on Saturday. Ponaganset haven't had much luck with Portsmouth recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meghan St. Pierre and Marron Nearney scored all four of Ponaganset's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 20 goals.

Meanwhile, Westerly waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Cougars.

Ponaganset's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5-1. As for Westerly, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4-1.

Ponaganset might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Westerly in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Chieftains avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
