The Elkhart Elks will head out to take on the Buffalo Bison at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkhart is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
On Friday, Elkhart earned an 8-3 win over Fairfield.
Rylee Lohmeyer made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Lohmeyer was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maryiah Jogie, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Cydni Boyd, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Alto hit Buffalo with a 11-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bison came up short against the Yellowjackets, falling 17-3. The Bison have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Harper Stone made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Elkhart's record is now 20-5. As for Buffalo, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-16.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Elkhart hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like Buffalo struggles in that department as they've averaged .407. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Elkhart suffered a grim 14-6 defeat to Buffalo in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Elks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
