Basketball Game Preview: Sotomayor Wolves vs. Carson Colts

The Sotomayor Wolves will square off against the Carson Colts at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Sotomayor knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Carson likes a good challenge.

In Thursday's Canine Competition, Sotomayor prevailed. They took down Elizabeth 75-56 on Thursday. The Wolves pushed the score to 57-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs cut but never quite recovered from.

It was another big night for Bryan Hernandez, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 boards. Those 30 points gave him a new career-high. Jorge Penaloza was another key player, going 7 of 17 en route to 16 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Carson had to suffer through a 76-33 loss at the hands of San Pedro. The Colts haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Sotomayor, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
