Softball Recap: Brooklyn West's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Palmyra-Eagle over Deerfield

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Palmyra-Eagle and Deerfield, and Deerfield kept the tradition alive. The Panthers might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-4 to the Demons, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Demons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 on Tuesday.

Palmyra-Eagle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn West, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Palmyra-Eagle dropped their record down to 7-11 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Deerfield, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.

Palmyra-Eagle didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-5 loss against Lake Mills on the 7th. As for Deerfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Parkview at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.36 runs per game on average), something the Demons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
