Preview: Somerset Bulldogs vs. Carrizo Springs Wildcats
Somerset is 8-2 against Carrizo Springs since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Somerset Bulldogs will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Carrizo Springs Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 57-23, which was the final score in Somerset's tilt against Floresville last Friday. While losing is never fun, Somerset can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1172nd, while Floresville is ranked 428th).
Meanwhile, Carrizo Springs managed to keep up with Devine until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Carrizo Springs was outmatched by Devine at home and fell 57-30.
Despite the defeat, Carrizo Springs got a solid performance out of Adisyn Reyes, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Somerset and nudges their season record down to 6-16. As for Carrizo Springs, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-8.
Everything came up roses for Somerset against Carrizo Springs in their previous matchup back in January as the team secured a 72-44 victory. With Somerset ahead 41-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
