Basketball Recap: William Floyd Sets Scoring Season-High Against St. John the Baptist

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask William Floyd). They blew past the St. John the Baptist Cougars 72-23 on Saturday. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Colonials had established a 47 point advantage.

William Floyd found their leader in sophomore Taleah Coppola, who posted 17 points and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Coppola has scored all season. Chloe Campbell was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

William Floyd was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

William Floyd is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for St. John the Baptist, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

William Floyd didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-39 victory against Patchogue-Medford on the 21st. As for St. John the Baptist, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Holy Trinity at 5:45 p.m. on February 4th.
