Volleyball Recap: Boonville Takes a Loss

Boonville lost against Evansville Mater Dei back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Pioneers lost 3-0 to the Wildcats.

Boonville took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 26-24.

Their offense was headlined by Taylor Johnson and Marissa Ward, who picked up three kills apiece. Ward really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with six. Finally, Jenna Luff kept Boonville's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Evansville Mater Dei can attribute much of their success to Caroline Schultheis, who had ten digs and six aces. That's the most digs Schultheis has posted over her last six games. Izzy Bohleber also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Boonville's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Evansville Mater Dei, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Boonville will take on Tecumseh at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Evansville Mater Dei, they will welcome Eastern at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
