Baseball Game Preview: Hamilton Southeastern Royals vs. Lawrence Central Bears

Hamilton Southeastern is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Lawrence Central a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Hamilton Southeastern Royals will welcome the Lawrence Central Bears at 6:00 p.m. Lawrence Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Hamilton Southeastern, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Hamilton Southeastern turned things around against Lapel on Saturday. They skirted past the Bulldogs 8-6.

Michael Hoog made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hamilton Southeastern is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-9 otherwise. Hoog was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Josh Lesniewksi tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Shelbyville on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Bears.

Peyton Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-10. As for Lawrence Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
