Volleyball Recap: Heritage's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It was a good run, but Heritage unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-match winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calhoun Yellow Jackets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in August.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-14.

Mariah Evans paced Heritage's offense, picking up four kills. Evans got some help from Madison Sertel and her nine assists.

Calhoun's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chloe Edens, who had ten digs and two assists. Edens has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played. Naomi Dixon also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 19-17. As for Calhoun, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, Heritage and Calhoun will both be playing Ridgeland the next time they take the court. The Yellow Jackets will head out to face the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Generals will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
