Basketball Recap: Lucas' Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak at Home

Lucas lost against East Knox back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Lucas Cubs fell 55-48 to the East Knox Bulldogs. The Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Lucas saw an underclassman step up: freshman Riley Trumpower went 9 of 14 en route to 22 points in addition to six boards and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Trumpower has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Griffey, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Lucas' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8. As for East Knox, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Lucas won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lucas is facing South Central at the right time seeing as South Central is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for East Knox, they will host Danville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. East Knox has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
