Preview: Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars vs. Tampa Prep Terrapins
Two dominant in Lucy Morey and Gabby Bush are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Tampa Prep Terrapins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Academy of the Holy Names is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Last Thursday, Academy of the Holy Names came up short against River Ridge and fell 39-30.
The losing side was boosted by Tegan Drinkwater, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. Morgan Hunt was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tampa Prep earned a 47-36 victory over The First Academy on Saturday. Given Tampa Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while The First Academy is ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Academy of the Holy Names' loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Tampa Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season.
Academy of the Holy Names was able to grind out a solid victory over Tampa Prep in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 63-55. Will Academy of the Holy Names repeat their success, or does Tampa Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
