Softball Recap: Coral Springs Charter Beats St. Thomas Aquinas for Their Seventh Straight Win

Coral Springs Charter barely beat St. Thomas Aquinas the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Raiders on Tuesday. Considering the Panthers have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sophia Bertorelli looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Heather Robertson, who fired off three home runs and seven RBI while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted three runs, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gio Gurgel, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Coral Springs Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Thomas Aquinas only managed three hits.

The win (which was Coral Springs Charter's seventh in a row) raised their record to 18-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

As of now, neither Coral Springs Charter nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
