Basketball Game Preview: Tampa Prep Terrapins vs. Durant Cougars + How To Watch

The Tampa Prep Terrapins will square off against the Durant Cougars at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Durant took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Tampa Prep, who comes in off a win.

Tampa Prep is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Bishop McLaughlin Catholic: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Terrapins blew the Hurricanes out of the water with a 69-29 final score. With the Terrapins ahead 42-16 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Kaii Levy was a one-man wrecking crew as he dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 boards. He has been hot, having posted ten or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson LaMarre, who posted eight points along with five assists and four steals.

Tampa Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 24 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Durant lost to East Bay on the road by a 69-50 margin on Friday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Durant saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jamarcus Randall went 7-for-10 on his way to 20 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Niko Sosa, who had 13 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Durant now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Tampa Prep, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Everything came up roses for Tampa Prep against Durant when the teams last played back in January, as the team secured a 68-37 victory. Will the Terrapins repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
