Football Recap: Jordan Morales' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hanks over Andress

Hanks played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Andress Eagles, falling 35-14. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Hanks' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Morales, who rushed for 26 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 230 yards on 15 of 25 attempts. Austin Deucher helped out on the ground, rushing for 96 yards.

Andress' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brian Cordova led the charge by rushing for 121 yards and one score on only 11 carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 61 yards. Carmelo (Melo) Jones also helped out as he racked up 101 rushing yards.

Hanks' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Andress, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hanks is set to take on their familiar foe Burges at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Andress will face off against rival Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
