Basketball Recap: Altamont takes loss despite strong performances from Betsy Connor and Abbey Sellers

Basketball Recap: Altamont Knights vs. Cornerstone Eagles

The Altamont Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cornerstone. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Altamont in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost five in a row.

Abbey Sellers and Betsy Connor certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Sellers scored eight points, while Connor scored eight points.

Cornerstone found their leader in underclassman Kye Fincher, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Fincher is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. Kemberly Roscoe was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Altamont now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Cornerstone, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Altamont won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th. Westminster School at Oak Mountain is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Cornerstone, they will be playing at home against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
