Soccer Game Preview: Caldwell vs. Smithville

The Caldwell Hornets will take on the Smithville Tigers at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Caldwell and nine for Smithville.

Caldwell fell victim to Salado and their airtight defense on Friday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 798th, while the Eagles are ranked 145th).

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Smithville lost 4-1 to Rockdale.

Smithville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16-1. As for Caldwell, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15-1.

Everything went Caldwell's way against Smithville in their previous meeting back in February, as Caldwell made off with a 3-0 win. Will Caldwell repeat their success, or does Smithville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
