Basketball Recap: Joppa-Maple Grove's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Joppa-Maple Grove had lost 32 straight headed into Thursday's game, but Marcus Stallings didn't let it get to 33. The Joppa-Maple Grove Rangers came out on top against the Egyptian Pharaohs by a score of 54-44 on Thursday thanks in part to Stallings, who went 11 of 23 en route to 23 points and six rebounds. Those 23 points gave him a new career-high.

Several Pharaohs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Will Lessar, who posted six points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendrick Williams, who had 11 points and five rebounds.

Joppa-Maple Grove's victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-15. As for Egyptian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Joppa-Maple Grove has already played their next matchup, a 60-54 loss against Shawnee on the 20th. As for Egyptian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 87-35 defeat against Galatia on the 18th.
