Foley has gone a perfect 3-0 against Citronelle recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Foley Lions face off against Citronelle Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. Foley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Foley lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Davidson, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. Foley blew past Davidson 8-0 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Not much got past Brady Nichols, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Davidson off the board. What's more, Nichols gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had over his last four games.
On the hitting side, Kolby Jordan was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 13 contests. Gavin Glass was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Jordan wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Foley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Citronelle came up short against Bibb County on Thursday, falling 15-4. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
James Reid and JJ Rivers did some serious damage despite the final result: Reid scored two runs and stole Two bases., while Rivers scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Citronelle's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Foley, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Foley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Citronelle struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Foley took their win against Citronelle in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 12-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Foley since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
