Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Railsplitters vs. Heyworth Hornets

The Lincoln Railsplitters will square off against the Heyworth Hornets at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln will be strutting in after a victory while Heyworth will be coming in after a loss.

Lincoln took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They never let New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Railsplitters' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Heyworth suffered their closest defeat since April 12th on Monday. They fell just short of LeRoy by a score of 6-4. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Heyworth saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddox Klawitter, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Another was Braxton Denning, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Heyworth's loss dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Lincoln, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-14 record.

Lincoln came out on top in a nail-biter against Heyworth in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Railsplitters have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
