Gwynedd Mercy Academy can bid farewell to their three-match losing streak thanks to their match on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Merion Mercy Academy Golden Bears, sneaking past 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Monarchs: when they faced off against the Golden Bears on September 9th, they had to take a 3-2 defeat.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (110-99) Gwynedd Mercy Academy actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 28-26, 17-25, 25-22, 15-12.

Emma Fazio paced Gwynedd Mercy Academy's offense, picking up 14 kills. Fazio got some help from Peggy Dougherty and her 34 assists. Fazio was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Gwynedd Mercy Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Merion Mercy Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coincidentally, Gwynedd Mercy Academy and Merion Mercy Academy will both be playing Villa Joseph Marie the next time they take the court. The Monarchs will head out to face the Jems at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Golden Bears will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
