Basketball Recap: Apache Junction Comes Up Short

Apache Junction lost against Palo Verde back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Apache Junction Prospectors were outmatched by the Palo Verde Titans and fell 69-21. While losing is never fun, the Prospectors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Titans are ranked 58th).

When it comes to explaining why Apache Junction lost, don't look at Omar Adam. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 10 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Palo Verde's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Julian Blackburne led the charge by going 8 of 17 on his way to 22 points and three steals. That's the most points Blackburne has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Ortiz, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

Apache Junction's loss was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Palo Verde, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Apache Junction wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 42-28 win against ALA - Anthem South on the 13th. As for Palo Verde, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-54 victory against Bourgade Catholic on the 12th.
