Basketball Recap: Creede Piles Up the Points Against Lake City Community

A well-balanced attack led Creede over Lake City Community in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Creede Miners blew the Lake City Community 14ers out of the water with a 53-23 final score. The win continues a trend for the Miners in their matchups with the 14ers: they've now won three in a row.

Creede's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Charlie Fairchild, who went 8-for-12 to rack up 16 points and seven steals. Fairchild is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 15 games he's played. Jaxson Fazio was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Creede was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Despite the defeat, Lake City Community had strong showings from Levi Hartman, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine boards, and Dean Brown, who posted eight points and ten rebounds. That was a full 52.2% of Lake City Community's points, marking the third time in a row Hartman has had more than a third of the team's points.

Creede's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Lake City Community, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Creede has already played their next game, a 38-26 win against Antonito on the 22nd. Lake City Community does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
