Recap: Pine Lake Prep Pride vs. Corvian Community Cardinals
It was a good run, but The Pine Lake Prep Pride unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They and Corvian Community were almost perfectly matched up, but Pine Lake Prep suffered an agonizing 24-23 loss.
When it comes to explaining why Pine Lake Prep lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gabe Bolivar. Despite the final result, he rushed for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Bolivar is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played.
Even if they lost, Pine Lake Prep's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. Leading the way was Ryan Connotillo and his three sacks.
Corvian Community can attribute much of their success to AJ Jackson Jr., who rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 97 yards and a touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Pine Lake Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Corvian Community, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine Lake Prep will take on Community School of Davidson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Community School of Davidson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 149 points over their last three matchups. As for Corvian Community, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mountain Island Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Mountain Island Charter is ranked 250th, while Corvian Community is ranked 242nd).
