Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Fayetteville's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Fayetteville hadn't done well against Shiner recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Fayetteville walked away with a 4-1 win over Shiner. This was payback for the Lions, who suffered a 19-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Jack Schley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Schley wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kandon Kaspar, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Another was Brody Dooley, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Fayetteville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Shiner's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.

Coincidentally, Fayetteville and Shiner will both be playing Flatonia the next time they take the field. Shiner will host Flatonia at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Fayetteville will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
