Basketball Recap: Woodgrove Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Woodgrove and Heritage squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Woodgrove had to settle for second. They took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Heritage Pride. The Wolverines were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pride earlier this season, when they won 41-37.

Heritage's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alyssa Stanford, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 boards gave Stanford a new career-high. Riley Makitka was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

The defeat snapped Woodgrove's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 19-8 record. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for Heritage, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-3.

As of now, neither Woodgrove nor Heritage have any future games scheduled.
