Baseball Recap: Elkton Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Elkton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Bohemia Manor Eagles. The Golden Elks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Caleb Potter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Potter wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Taino Jurry, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Daymien Phillips also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Elkton's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bohemia Manor, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Eagles beat Elkton by a score of 7-4 on Tuesday.
