Softball Recap: Luck/Frederic Gets the Win

It was close, but on Saturday the Luck/Frederic Otters sidestepped the Ladysmith Lumberjacks for a 7-6 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Otters.

Marissa Owens made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over 4.1 innings pitched. Owens was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Luck/Frederic let Lily Carter and Kenna Chenal run wild. Carter went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Chenal went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Chenal a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophie Eder, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Luck/Frederic's victory bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Ladysmith, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Luck/Frederic will challenge Turtle Lake/Clayton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ladysmith, they will welcome Unity at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
