Football Recap: Atchison Phoenix vs. Ottawa Cyclones
Atchison couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 24-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ottawa Cyclones on Friday. The Phoenix were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cyclones apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Atchison lost, don't look at Eric Smith Iii. Despite the final result, he picked up 94 receiving yards and a touchdown. The bulk of thosereceiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 63 yards.
